The 'road' version of the powerful Mercedes-Benz 300SLR race car was designed by Karl Wiffert and dubbed the 'Uhlenhaut Coupe' after Mercedes' Chief Engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut, who used one of the two cars built as his personal 'company car'. The Coupe was the terror of the Autobahn, reaching top speeds close to 300 kph. Both cars exist to this day and are still owned by Mercedes-Benz. One is on permanent display at the Daimer museum in Stuttgart. The other makes appearances at automotive events worldwide. Total length: approx. 10 inches.
